Why an artist turns people's voices into unique gemstones

A diamond ring has become synonymous with love and devotion, but it's hard to call such a gift unique. Imagine that the gemstone you give to your chosen one expresses some individual trait, such as a voice.



Artist and vocalist Harry Yeff has created Voice Gems, a system that transforms a person's voice data into the colors and shapes embodied in a gemstone. His works were first shown at Art Basel in Miami and will also be showcased at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January.

Harry Yeff has been obsessed with the human voice since childhood. He believes that the voice is one of the most valuable instruments, and when people see the beauty and significance of phone number list their own voice, it empowers them to use it.

“The unique thing about the voice is that we use it to communicate with the outside world, but it also enhances our inner sense of self,” he says. “But for many, it takes courage to feel confident in their voice.”

For over a decade, he has been collaborating with scientists, including from the Universities of London and Harvard, trying to break down the human voice into its various components.
